Education and training [Architecture] If so chosen I could become an architect. In this profession most individuals would seek to earn a professional degree in architecture. A Bachelor of Architecture degree must be earned generally if you have no architectural background. Most students earn a masters degree in architecture which can take anywhere from 1 to 5 years to obtain. If this route were taken I would need basic programs such as architectural history and theory, mathematics, liberal arts, and physical science courses. Thirty-five states require a bachelor’s degree to be an architect. Currently, there are 123 schools accredited by The National Architecture Accrediting Board. Most require prior experience of at least 3 years before taking the Architecture Registration Exam. With an internship a student could count some of that time toward the required 3 years of experience. Certain schools may allow part of the training to come from job related offices such as engineers. [Manufacturing Engineering] Like architects manufacturing engineers almost always require a bachelors degree. Either a degree in engineering which is the most common or a degree in a related field will be sufficient.
